Bazhong Rural Health Improvement Project
Objectives: This project was designed to improve the health and wellbeing of the rural population in Bazhong prefecture, Sichuan Province. The project will strengthen basic health services, health promotion, strengthening planning and management and human resource development.
Australian Contribution: A$14 million

Planned outcomes:
- Improved quality, efficiency and utilisation of the primary health care services in the Project townships and villages
- Increased health knowledge, attitudes and behaviours in the community
- Improved health planning and management capacity at all levels in Bazhong Prefecture to ensure evidence-based planning and rational resource utilisation
- Achieved efficient and effective management for timely achievement of Project outcomes.
Achievements:
- Small Grants Scheme was well accepted by local people and recognised by local counterpart.
- Winner of International White Ribbon Award for the Safe Motherhood activity.
