Pandemics, disasters, and transborder crimes like people smuggling and illegal fishing, need cooperation between countries if they are to be successfully addressed.
In Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos and Burma, Australia funds a project that works with local governments and rural communities to raise awareness of avian influenza and help reduce its impact.
In Vietnam the sale of live chickens at markets like this is now banned to help prevent the spread of bird flu.
