International Workshop:

Gender, Youth and Economic Empowerment in the Pacific

A partnership between the Australian Agency for International Development and Learning Oceania, College of Asia and the Pacific at the Australian National University (ANU).

On 16-17 April 2008 AusAID and Learning Oceania at the ANU hosted a workshop on the gender and youth dimensions of economic development in the Pacific.

Key issues addressed during the workshop were:

  • The role of culture in Pacific Economic Development;
  • Gender and Employment;
  • Youth, Technology and Globalisation;
  • Gender in Economic Policy and Programming;
  • Women in Enterprise and female entrepreneurship;
  • Gender, Youth and Land;
  • Labour Mobility and Remittances; and
  • Gender and Youth Participation in National Decision making.
