Asia Pacific Leadership Forum on HIV/AIDS and DevelopmentThe Asia Pacific Leadership Forum (APLF) on HIV/AIDS and Development provides decision-makers and leaders in the Asia Pacific region with opportunities to learn and apply strategies to respond to HIV/AIDS. Launched in 2002, the APLF recognises the critical role of leaders from within government and civil society in shaping an effective response to HIV/AIDS. It equips them with information and the right skills to meet the challenges faced in responding to the epidemic in their country. The Government of Australia provided initial funding to set up the APLF. Other governments and partners also provide resources to support the Forum, including Japan, the EU, the US and New Zealand. The United Nations Joint Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) has responsibility for managing APLF activities. An APLF Coordinator, based in the UNAIDS Regional Support Team - Asia Pacific office in Bangkok, oversees the day-to-day work of the Forum. 2007 |
