AusAID NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP)

The AusAID NGO Cooperation Program supports accredited Australian non-government organisations (NGOs) to implement their own international development programs. Under ANCP, AusAID partners with Australian professional development NGOs.

To be eligible for funding, NGOs must be accredited with AusAID and must submit an annual development plan each year. All proposed projects must adhere to the ANCP guidelines. The formula used to apportion funding is determined by three main factors:

  • the size of the pool, i.e. the amount of funding available each year
  • the minimum amount of funding that the Australian government has committed to providing each NGO, based on its accreditation level*
  • the proportion of an NGO’s Recognised Development Expenditure (RDE) compared to all other accredited NGOs**.

* Base accredited NGOs receive just $150,000 each year; only fully accredited NGOs may receive more than $300,000 in any one year.

** No NGO will receive more than 35 per cent of the available pool after the minimum amounts have been allocated.

The fact sheets below outline reforms that commenced in FY 2009–10 and those that require further consultation.

AusAID plans to replace the existing ANCP Guiding Principles and ANCP Guidelines with one document, the ANCP Guide. Until the new guide is in place, in the event of any discrepancy between the new fact sheets and the older documentation, the fact sheets take precedence.
