Eligibility & Conditions of Employment

Security requirements

The duties of all positions in AusAID require employees to have a Commonwealth Government security clearance. Before commencing duty, the Agency will determine your suitability to access classified material, having regard to all relevant information. You will be required to provide detailed personal information as part of the security clearance process, prior to commencing work with AusAID. To obtain a security clearance, you must be an Australian citizen.

Voluntary redundancies

AusAID cannot employ individuals within a period of 12 months from the date they received a voluntary redundancy from a Commonwealth employer.

Probation

Applicants who are not current Australian Public Servants are engaged on probation for an initial period of six months. If, during the probationary period, there are any doubts as to work performance or conduct, the probation period may be extended or the engagement annulled.

Conditions of employment

AusAID's Collective Agreement sets out remuneration and conditions of service for all non-SES employees.
