Infrastructure

Inadequate infrastructure, particularly in rural areas, remains a key bottleneck to further growth, employment and poverty reduction in Vietnam.

AusAID is working with the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank to help Vietnam improve the quality and accessibility of basic transport and energy infrastructure.

Australia is funding a feasibility study for the Cao Lanh bridge project as part of a greater Mekong connectivity initiative to improve local people’s access to markets.

Our assistance in the transport sector includes work to ensure key cross-cutting issues such as social and gender impacts, HIV/AIDS, people trafficking and road safety are properly addressed in the design and construction of new transport networks.

Aid activities:

ADB Southern Coastal Corridor Project
WB Mekong Transport Infrastructure Development  Project

Central Mekong Delta Region Connectivity Project (CMDRCP)
