Capacity Building for Effective Governance Facility (CEG)Objectives: The CEG Facility aims to build capacity for the effective operation of government, in order to contribute to poverty reduction and sustainable development, with a major emphasis on supporting the transition to a socialist-oriented market economy in Vietnam through strengthening the skills base and institutional capacity of selected state agencies and relevant related agencies within agreed focal areas, which include private sector development and economic integration. Australian Contribution: A$ 10 million Duration: April 2002 – April 2006 Location: Countrywide Project Components: Activities will focus on the four focal areas of private sector development, economic integration (with a specific focus on the domestic dimensions of liberalising trade and investment), public sector resource use (with a specific emphasis on public expenditure and financial management), and fostering the development of the legislature and the judiciary. Outcomes: The expected outputs under the Facility include:
