Australia Monitoring and Evaluation Strengthening Project
Objectives: To assist the Government of Vietnam to establish an effective national system for monitoring and evaluating ODA and thereby discharge its responsibilities under Decree 17/2001/ND-CP/2001/ND-CP.
Australian Contribution: A$5.6 million
Total cost: A$6.9 million (Government of Vietnam provides an in kind contribution equivalent to A$1.54 million)
Duration: January 2004 – December 2007

Project Components:
- Component 1: A fully operational model for evaluating and evaluating ODA-To assist the Government of Vietnam to develop and apply a replicable model for monitoring and evaluating ODA that demonstrably meets specific needs across several ministry and provincial level agencies and project management units (PMUs).
- Component 2: Project Management and Coordination-To appropriately and effectively manage and coordinate the project with the Ministry of Planning and Investment and other stakeholders.

- National ODA M&E Manual
- Cadre of competent local M&E practitioners
- Portfolio of completed project evaluations
- Enhanced IT capacity of participants\ODA newsletter

- Effective joint management of the project
